Have you tested your water?
No
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes
What percentage of water do you change?
21-30%
How frequently do you change your water?
Every week
If I do not change my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be recommended to do a water change, and water changes are critical for preventing future freshwater health problems.

Just put African butterflies and knife fish. Is it possible one tried to chomp this guy?

So,what's your water change routine?....couldn't resist lol.
The photo isnt the clearest but that could be a bite wound from a relatively small knife fish, most of them have small mouths to begin with.
I suspect that a butterfly would cause a bigger gash.

Given that the butterfly fish has a trap door style mouth I would expect him to just swallow the danio if big enough or leave a scrape across the body. But that just my $0.01

Yeah,I don't recall seeing a butterfly fish that wasn't big enough to engulf a danio lol.

Don’t look like a bite mark. What type of knife fish?

I
I take 10gal out every week of the tank. 30gal tank. I do have an EBJD in there too. Like 2.5 inchea

It's possible the African Butterfly bit it at a angle but released the Danio. The Danio may get caught again if it stays at the surface.
