Is this a bite mark????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's possible the African Butterfly bit it at a angle but released the Danio. The Danio may get caught again if it stays at the surface.
I don't mind if they get eaten. I bought them to help cycle my original tank and they just never really died. I have a feeling one of them nipped it bc when I went to feed them today the one butterfly was right where the feed slot is and it kinda like snapped at the food while the zebra was swimming around for food. I also don't know much about the butterfly or knife fish. The lfs did say they might eat the daniels

Personally I'd agree with most everyone else saying that it was probably the jack that caused it, it is possible tho that the danio got in the way of the butterfly while it was feeding and got accidently nipped. If ya don't mind me asking do you plan on upgrading in tank size at some point? Because the jack will definitely outgrow that 30g, personally I wouldn't use anything smaller then a 75g as a permanent home for it. 30g is fine for a grow out tank but it will eventually need allot more space.

Yes as of now it's only like 2/ 2.5inch. within the next year I'll be switching to 75 or larger . As long as its not a parasite or something like that I don't mind if they get nipped. They have lived thru everything since the beginning of the tank
