i noticed something strange on my Bichir rear right before the tail. It looks up a bit twisted but when it swims it looks normal.
Is this a broken back?

Yes it looks injured.
If the lap is new maybe its lacking nutrition, i had that when i got my nigerian endli before.

If it relates to malnutrition in any way. Applies to old or new bichirs. It is possible to have this condition. Underlying questions would be; what are u feeding? Is it getting it's fair share? Do see it eating or is it getting outcompeted (p-bass, cichlids, polyscatfish, etc....), how often are the feedings? If it's swimming fine w/nk buyouncy issues. Then we can toss out the paralysis potential.
had it for awhile and just started looking like this.
Feeding twice a week and yes he’s getting our compete by bass. I have another tank to move him to but afraid he might snack on my growouts.
you might be right.
haha at first I thought it was another lap biting the tail and did a death roll. The other for some odd reason has been aggressive toward this particular lap. I think I’ll move this injured fish to let it heal.
