Is this a deal??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its good deal. The glass tops go for about 65 2-36" flour. around 85-100, 125 AGA Megaflow tank $339, and the stand...depends on the make/style..anywhere from 200-400. Mind you, these prices are from east coast (NY Petland Discounts).

Don't forget to get the bulkheads or the AGA Megaflow kit, its around 50, unless the LFS is throwing them in, then definitely its a great deal.

I was at my LFS today and he had a reef setup for sale.
It was a 125G tank w/ 2 built-in overflows and came with fully enclosed lower stand, 3 glass tops, 2 36" double flourescant light hoods, but no filter system.
All for $715

Is this a deal or overpriced? I've never contemplated buying a set-up this large.

yes for what you have listed that would be a deal, but there are many more items reqired to start a reef, tank, many of which cost big money,

such as, the expensive lighting, possible sump filtration, for skimmer placment, live rock, fish, etc, etc, once that is added in your tank total will be in the 2-$3000+

Yeah, Evertime I buy a tank, I'm like yeah it's a deal until you figure in all the extra stuff to go in it

I agree, I end up dumping cash even when I get a tank for free. Need a filter, light, stand, substrate, food, fish, etc. Free isn't free, and a good deal can be a wallet buster.
