i didnt buy it th petstore gave me it somone broght it in and they had no room for it i get most of my fish that way, and i rescue fish people dont want pet stores here are tiny and dont do cichlids and wont buy or take fish.

first clue that it is not a demasoni is that it was 6 inches. They get about 2.5 inches.

Demasoni's get bigger than 2.5", but yeah, at 6" that would been a major clue.

The 'stripes' it's displaying are known as 'stress bars' and are a temporary pattern. They'll disappear once the fish has settled in and become established in your tank.

i have had 6 inch demasoni but that was maxed out on a 10 year old colony back in the 80's

yeah all the petstores in about a 200 mile radius or more only have 1 or 2 small 20 gl tanks of cichlids , usually mixed africans and occasionally a red devil or bl belt. inand all the stores only have 10 to 15 tanks and biggest tanks are maybe 30 gl. and mostly goldfish and tetras. and ive travel from 1 end of state to the other looking.
