Is this a Electric Blue Jack Dempsey?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They look better now .. it's like 2 weeks later. I will take pictures of the others in a little while
The others are much more bigger? And can I ask you were did you got those (ceramic?) balls with holes for them to hide? Would love to get something like that

They are made of a plastic resin and I got them at my lfs ..my freshwater moray eel lives in that big one .I'm sure you can find them on the net somewhere .. my other 2 are a little bit smaller and like I said in also have 3 that are like 1 inch

Very beautiful and strong looking batch of them apparently. Keep us posted at the growth speed. Have you measured what he was or is at yet?

He is a great looking ebjd.

I believe the red line on his top fin is a desired trait that a lot of the EBJDs lack bc of poor genes and breeding. the red line feature wasn’t a feature that people focused on as much as they did being able to produce a blue fish.

My ebjd only has one or two red tipped rays

Keep us updated with pictures!

Thanks all, he was doing great.
I opened a post in the diseases forum, he got ich from nothing a couple of days ago, moved him to a quarantine tank, but he barely eats in there.

You should have left him in the main tank as you will need to treat the main tank as well as him. The main tank is infected with ick and will need treatment or once you put him back in the main tank he will contract ick again. Ick eggs live in the substrate so impossible to get rid of it without treating the main tank.

I would do your rounds of ick treatment first.

Then the other treatments I have done are metroplex soaked food, and a round of prazi pro....I’ve done both of these treatments when my EBJDs stopped eating and it always worked well for me. I think in the beginning I done two rounds of ick treatment, and three rounds of the prazi pro and metroplex....I have noticed it slows growth tremendously when they decide to stop eating.

In addition to those treatments I would feed frozen foods, they would never reject frozen foods...mysis shrimp, broke shrimp etc...might not be the best diet but I always figured something to eat is better than nothing to eat....

I'm also treating the main tank, I moved him to the quarantine to check him better and watch his poops. What is two rounds of ick treatment?
Yeah I noticed that he eats a little of the bloodworms but only eats like 2times and then just look at it, it's kinda of frustating since he is literraly with the mouth touching the bloodworms but doesnt eat...

I guess when I did two rounds, I qualify it as treating the whole tank for a week or two as directed by the bottle, stopped for a couple of weeks then notice more spots then I started a second round for a week or two (whatever the bottle suggested for a whole treatment) I was going through a lot of the mess and had to keep going back to the store

I agree EBJDs are definitely trying on the patience when they are finicky!!

I hope yours pulls through
