I'm still relatively new to aquariums (I currently have a 35G Cichlid tank) and I'd like to upgrade.

I found an offer for a 90Gallon that comes with a Stingray stand for $250.

Is this a good deal for an aquarium?

The dealer also said He'd throw in a Eheim 2217 for an extra $100.

Not new, but no more than a few months old. The dealer claims it has been "running only since June this summer".

DOOO IT.

Check craigslist for a better offer first or to get an idea on your local price point. If you still like it. GET IT.

Then you can use it for a filter in a few months when you get fully hooked.

Then it is used. Even if has only been set up for a few months. Not a bad deal, but used is used. You can get brand new Eheim 2217 with media and disconnect valves for around $150. Is the hood and light included?

Hood and light not included, which is why I am hesitant about this.

I'm going to check out my local Big Al's and see if the price of buying everything new (including hood/light) is significantly higher.

I checked Big Al's today and an Eheim 2217 was going for $199.99.

:iagree: you can find a better deal than that i got a 100g with stand for only £70 Which gave me more moneys to spend on filters, substrate ect... 1 bought a light controller for only £20 new as well so I had lights :)

I found a 90 gallon tank, tank only, for $60 on Craigslist and then made a stand for free with leftover wood. I would hold out for a better deal. Just be sure to be the first person that responds.
