you should also check on ebay, for the tank, you can get some very good deals. stick with your local pet shop for equipment as they will have better stuff
 
i dont understand why people say you can get a better deal or not and they are in a different state or even country? prices are regional..thats a decent deal here in midwest, not a good deal on the west coast especially Cali..and probably a nice deal for the east coast which tends to be pricier...hard question to get answered correctly

exactly!! the OP is from Canada... so i'm sure the prices he posted at in CAN not USD.
 
Yeah I guess I should have made my situation a bit more clear. As I'm living in Toronto Canada. The prices of LFS products are very expensive and with our tax at 13% fish keeping is hard on the wallet. Probably the only reason stopping me from making a Monster tank or going heavily into Salt water aquariums.

Heck it's cheaper for me to buy online products and ship them to a nearby American city (Buffalo) and take a day trip and pick everything up... then again it's a huge hassle to plan it all out.
 
Yeah, its the same here in the midwest.

people in California would most likely laugh if you asked them if it was a good deal. But here in a Kansas that would be a fair price, depending on the quality of the stand, and aquarium.

The more you keep your eye open for deals in your region, the better you will be able to gage what is a deal in your market.
