Is this a good deal?

Would kinda be a waste if you are going fw. Great deal for salt, but you shouldn't have a big problem getting rid of the live rock and skimmer and stuff. I'd do another pump if i were making it freshwater, but you should be ahead of the game after selling all the salt stuff

do you recommend me getting this one though?

the biggest tank i've ever had was a 55 gallon (my roommate has a 240 and a 150), and i've never dealt with sumps before. so i'd have to learn about all this stuff.

Around here in florida 125 gallons with that would run $1000+ used on CL....that would be a steal for these parts. Just get it and sell off what you don't need for FW or save it for a future project :)

that's what i was thinking. because converting a salt water to a fresh water tank shouldnt be that hard right? and i could talk to the guy and see if i can get it for a little cheaper too.

and if i get this one, i wouldn't have to worry about the moving of the tank. because my roommate paid $200 bucks for a moving company to move his 240 to the house.

By not hard you must mean 0% more effort than simply setting up the tank itself right? There is no converting to be done. You just run less equipment and the sump practically runs the same, again, with less equipment.

so i asked the guy for the dimensions and he said

"8 feet long, 2 feet wide and 2.5 tall"

only 300 gallons -______-

I would keep searching my man. I thought you would use for saltwater.

Try going to see the tank if it isnt very far away and talking to the owner face to face. You dont need a lot of the things he is including... Mention that and try to bring the price down to at least $700 or so.

I usually wouldnt pay mroe than $2 a gallon for a tank with stand and filters, but this is a big tank and they dont come that often.

What would your stocking plans be? That looks like a really tall tank but it definately has some width to it.
