Is this a good idea?

Been starving my payara for a while now, but he still wont eat. He is in the tank alone, I plan on putting my ID shark in with him to act as a teacher fish. He is about the same size but a little fatter. Hopefully he can pick up on his surface vacuum cleaning of food? As the title says..

Sounds like a good plan. They both grow fast so I don't see it being a problem.

Should be ok. How long have you been starving the payara? Also, what are you trying to break him with? Pellets? Tilapia? Silversides?

EDIT - forgot to ask, what type of Payara?

armatus im pretty sure and iv tryed feeding him with everything from worms pellets shrimp never silversides though i cld try that
he's been starved for like a week now give or take

A week isn't bad. Unless sick, it will eventually eat.

Do you have a full body shot of the fish?

You can try freeze dried krill or tie a silver side on fishing line on your power head.

Mine loved that krill when he was a baby.
