My tanks is an overstocked 180G 6ft. Tank. Filled with 22 Rbp (2"-4") 15 exxodons bucktooth tetras (3-4") 13 tetras (2") 3 platys (1-2") 4 fancy guppies (1-1 1/2") 2 common plecos (3") 1 Molly (1")

My 2 canister outflow provide my tank with 520gph. I know the rbps are still too small for a power head for current, but big ALS is having a huge midnight sale on that brand of power heads on Saturday and I might as well pick it up for later on.

Do you think this brand of power heads will provide a current that is evenly distributed.

Please post a photo. I would love to see that stock list. ;)

I would go for the mag 8.

If you go with mag 8 then you'll probably remove a lot of the plants (fake or real) once you have it installed. the piranhas will be fine with it as long as you provide some dead spot for them to rest.
I have one in my 180g before, my shoal loved it but the plants not so much. you have to play with the position to find out where's the best place and angle to put it.
here's an video of mag 8 in my 180g with my mix shoal. I put the plants at where there's minimum current and you can still see it moves a good amount.

Do you regret anything about the mag 8. I was thinking more along the Mag 6 or 7. Something less powerful nothing more than 2000gph. If you look in my video I have a big trunk that is the height of my tank. Would that be an issue because its my center piece. Remember I am still new to this hobby my first tank.

aside from blowing my plants away it was great. don't think it will have any effect on hard decors. my woods were fine

whatever happened to that blue gourami?

I do not regret anything about the mag 8 so far. I have 3 of them.

Koralia power heads are great. I've got several of the older models. I'm not familiar with the model you're referring to, but I'm sure it's also a great product. I got mine off of eBay. You can probably beat that Big Als price on eBay.
