It doesn't necessarily kill them, just not helpful to stress a fish that size. When I've tried for a pair I've gotten 6 babies and let them do the work. Not foolproof, as you can end up with male male and female female pairs, still better than venting imo

I agree, pic of my little F1 from mom and dad, grow rate says male , body says female, fact of the matter to soon to tell.

6 growing out, the one in the pick is a stellar performer. rest not this big. as an FYI winter a bad time to be shipping fish.
 
well, they spawning again as we speak, just checked tube down and dropped one egg, once she gets going the rock of love will be covered, so, no shortage of fry here,

Excellent news, sounds like I'll be able to get ahold of some during more preferable weather shipping wise. If ya get any particularly awesome grow outs I'd love to make it worth your time. Rearing costs etc. Spring time will be here soon enough :)
