Every popular fish photographer on this website uses photoshop or some thing similar to it. Period.
The line is drawn for me when you're doctoring a photo to look more like what your eye sees in real life to adding color that isn't there in real life.
I hatw it when a pic does not show what im seeing so this is usually when i alter a photo but i wouldnt add un natural colors.
To the op ive seen the whited out spots happen a lot in the flowerhorn world. It could possibly be that that photo is real i dont know if that whited out spots is possible on other fish though :/
As for the rapps pic. Thats normal. I will try to take a pic of my male and post.
I need to find me male just like in the Rapps picture. He is stunning.
Sorry if I wasn't clear I meant enhanced photo as in bringing out colors that are not really there. Its like when people use red lights and try sell "super red" texas, flowerhorns or kkp's when they're actually orange.

Well that first pic looks a little too saturated to me. The nicest lyonsi I've seen lately are owned by fishnvw (member here). He spawns them regularly and sells the fry on aqua bid.
The top photo looks like the contrast was increased which is ok but the saturation was over done. I don't mind adjusting the photo slightly to produce a more natural looking picture but the top photo looks like it was over compensated.
