is this a pipefish or a trumpet fish or anything?

:nilly: okay i found this in the sand earlier today, the tide was going out and he was stranded...what is this..i thought maybe a pipefish or a trumpet fish, its hard to see in the pics but he has a mouth like a seahorse and a fan shaped tail.

Yep, a pipefish. These guys are hard to get eating, I know from personal experience collecting them in the summer. You will probably need live brineshrimp for him.
 
do not catch them with ur hands as they will die catch them with ur nets because i once tried catchung my freshwater pipefish with my hand soon after i let go inside the tank it died so catch them with ur hand and yours is a pipefish and they will feed on brineshrimp
 
I transported all eight of mine into the tank by hand . They all became stiff as a twig ( very interesting ) but was okay as soon as they were in the water . I did not feel comfortable capturing them with nets as they are too long and fragile.
 
dont feed it brineshrimp... they have no nutrition... feed him live copepods... they are more money but a lot better food stuffs.
