is this a pure bd stingray?

hey so im looking into buying a ray but i aint sure if he's pure or not. breeder says when they are younger it's better for them not to be as black as it indicates poor spot growth (?) not sure if this iis true. just want to see what other people think of him as i dont want to invest on a fake bd haha 16-18cm currently

Well its hard to say if pure or not. Nowadays its more common for the black rays being hybrids then pure.
But IME bds arnt jetblack when born. They develope their black colors over time.
If it has alot of bellyspots then id say its no pure. Then it should be henlei in the mix. I have a pure bdmale that comes from wc parents. If its an breeder you trust then i would pull the trigger as it is an nice ray for sure.

so it's fine even if they are kind of brownish at this stage? he was really brown before this was at 14-16cm which is why im having doubtsScreenshot 2020-03-03 at 1.22.34 AM.png
 
Yes its perfectly fine. Around 25cm id say they have developed their black coloration fully.

that's the thing, yours seem kind of grayish blackish at 1month already while this guy is almost brown at that stage...
