What dyed means...i think i dont know and maybe im discussing about something about something in mistaking.
That means the fish's slime coat is stripped off and they are dipped in acid, or dye to give them the dark red color. That is not natural, it is man-made.

Qian Hu is known for selling dyed and tattooed fish. They also sell various colors of dyed parrots, convicts, etc.

Is that a con? Why would anyone do that and what piece of trash would pay money for it? Sad.

Yes, that is a convict. Check out some of their other cichlids, including dyed & tatooed BP's in the following link.

The Asian market is very different than here, and some companies are willing to supply the demand for almost anything.

Different is right. They seem to like everything to be deformed and unnatural. I don't get how anyone can find something like a balloon ram appealing. That tatted convict is the worst thing I think I've seen.

Shortbody fish can be bred that way at least, these poor dyed fish are disgusting. I see people buying the long skirt tetras that are dyed at the Walmarts here and it makes me sick. If they look like decent people I will sometimes tell them before they get really excited about buying the fish because it's a rare blue fish.

Can these dies be harmful to parrot ciclids? I'm curious

Yes. Think of it this way. Someone uses acid to burn off all the skin on your body, puts you in some form of dye to soak in, then leaves you alone for your skin to grow back. Slime coat on fish is equivalent to the skin on us humans and thats their main line of defense. Most fish don't survive the dying process and the ones that do have very short lives.

Fish like this are disgusting if I could get my hands on the people who did this I would give them the same treatment and some. The problem is the idiots who buy them. I own 5 red tail botia that I bought as "cotton candy loaches" or something stupid and I *****ed out the store managers on my way out with the fish. A few were green, some purple, and one red. After 2 years and a couple inches they're finally back to their natural color and all still alive (thankfully). Its really bad on the fishes immunes and the amount of fish that died from the process is terrible.
