It's a possibility may be or hybrid.
What do you think the mixture is possibly? It's a possibility may be or hybrid.
Interesting never heard of this fish. So looks like it's mixed with a Texas cichlid or Jack Dempsey right? To me looks like a cross of some sort of Amphilophus such as a Labiatus or Saggitae and a Herichthys such as a Carpintis. You can see the Amphilophus in the face for sure. Looks like my male Saggitae Casper View attachment 1363949
That's a nice looking fish!I am thinking a Texas of some sort. That's where the blue pearling comes from. Here is a young H. Carpintis View attachment 1363973
Ok thanks. Yes I'm considering buying it and it's a rescue situation. The fish in the pic is about 7inches. Do you think it still has a chance to recover and grow into something beautiful?Yes it is a red texas. Red texas is a hybrid. Amphilophus is definately in the mix but probably indirectly through a blood parrot mother and this fish pictured is the best possible outcome of that breeding imo.
It has the potential to be a beautiful fish but looks like an abused old soul in a tiny tank.
