Is This A Red Texas?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks... He is maturing a lot & fast... His head has gotten quite a bit bigger than in these pictures & body is growing to. Still all blue with just a little reddish color highlights in his fins. I'll update with a pic when there is a little more substantial of a change. It would be nice if the faded one I have is a female. Their offspring would have some nice potential!: I think she is because he would pound all the other fish that were ever in with him, but plays with this one.

Well for starters, I highly doubt your male is gonna be fertile. However, if you wanna try anyway place a divider in the tank you want them to do the deed in. Feed em really well and keep the water parameters pristine as possible. Place a piece of slate, rock, pot whatever you feel is best for you in the tank. After 3-4 days of them being together in the tank, remove the divider.(Watch them closely, they may be fine for a few minutes but things can go downhill fast) If things get a little rough, divide em again. Wait a few days and repeat. Once the male accepts the female, all you have to do is wait. This is my method anyway, others might have different approaches. Good luck.

Awesome pick up from Petsmart...if I were you, I picked up a few more fries at that time.

I think Petsmart is being cheated by whoever is selling the "RT" fries. Petsmart not knowing anything about RT and assumes they are RT fries. But they are all kamfa fries...IMO. Either that or they are all "RT" leftovers. :-)

Anyway...this one (first one) looks like a cross between zzmalau and bp. Fries from this pair usually will have some faders and some non-faders. Yours may not fade since it's already at a good size.

Nice to hear good feedback from more knowledgable people than me on these fish. Can someone tell me how common is it to see a Kamfa with blue eyes like this one?

It will stay blue...but some kamfas change colour to red or other colour...but not this one, other grades.
