Is this a Rotkeil?

Yeah agreed,as i said my step dads green was soooo similar just of much duller colouration and slightly different body shape...but to the uknowing eye 'the same fish'

Infact my wife said straight away 'Clives fish is the same as yours isent it?'

Even if he isent a Rotty he is definitley something different...like maybe a Heros SEverus.

He was sold to me as a Heros Severus 'spotted Severum' for £7 wheras the other sevs were all £4 each.

All shops sell tehre Sevs as 'Heros Severus' tho and they are almost always 'Heros Efaciatus'.

Ive noticed in both the picture of the other dudes Rotty and Eläköön's Rotty that theres has a pointy nose also and not the typical 'Heros Efaciatus' rounded almost Uaru looking face.

I just read that Rotkiels are a seperate species again being 'Heros Rotkeil' so i suppose the pointy nose,deeper body and yellow fins are the major differences (aswell as the red markings later on)....thats what i'm hoping anyway.

i got my snakeskins so they got 8" because i couldnt find kissers.
see i can find rotkeil just fine but something as simple as kissers nope

and dude theres no buttikoferi's... theres alot of stripey cichlids but butis are african lol

Mine is only 5-6" at the mo,hence probably the more intense colours,I saw a adult in my LFS and it looks more liek yours,they fade off to a more sky blue colour as they get older.

I got a couple of newer ones but my camera is crap without the flash so not very good quality

How long did your Pearl take to get that big? Mines grown about a inch in 4 months

I did have a Large male Hecklii (thread fin acara) with him but my Pearl would beat the crap out of it non stop so had to take him back

loves severums yours looks fine, its not all about colour, i like yours patternless body its very unique. heres my ones father

and Glenbo that tank looks amazing, if that was mine id be very proud and show it to everyone! i especially like the round pebbles and the wood, they compliment eachother great

Also that picture is amazing,i was looking at that earlier and showing my mrs what mine could turn out like,i think that particular one is a 'one of a kind' tho,i have never seen a severum look so amazing!

Plus again teh pointy nose and yellow fins! i'm trying to find a Rotty with the normal green fins or a standard green with yellow fins just to make sure!
