Looks like a Gulf Stone Crab. Their coloration is different than the Florida Stone Crab but they have an overlapping range. Though I doubt the crab would survive in the wild long enough to molt legs do tend to grow back at that time.

A word of warning, it is illegal to keep stone crabs in Florida, only the claws may be kept not the crab, it is also reccomended that only one claw be taken

yep looks like a stone crab to me... it is illegal to keep the stone crab but i though it was law that you can only take one claw or else its going to die anyways without a way of defending itself and if you catch one with only 1 claw you have to throw it back

While I agree that it has at least as much chance to survive until molt as a captive the state may not agree.
