Saw this at a local shop today listed as "cichlasoma" synspilum. Is it a vieja synspilum or something else? It's about 8 inches TL. Also I am wondering what you guys think of putting him in my 125g with my 4.5" jag. Crappy cell phone pic doesn't do it justice. Beautiful fish.

I'd say synspillum allright.
She's gonna grow.
Mine is outgrowing my oscar at the moment and eats anything except fish.
They can have quite an attitude.

looks to be a synspilum but i am not sure mine looks a little different, might be a hybrid, but i could be wrong. heres mine

thats what i was talking about the pattern seems to be a little off, maybe others can help you out a little better than i can.

The last one is the female, first one the male. Male is around 13", female about 11", they are both just over 3 years old. They've bred several times but I don't keep the young any more.

Well, i think i'm going to pick it up and see how it goes...I was assuming it was a male because it has some small trailers on the fins. Is that a bad assumption with this species?
