Is this a Texas?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cool bro. Keep us updated. Oh, and be wary of his aggression. Both FH, and Texas can be extremely aggressive.

Definitely aggressive. He or she (not sure of the sex) is beating the crap out of my Mayan, but doesn't seem to mind my festae or JD.

This is my guess right here. I don't see the flowerhorn in it that others seem to see. I see JD ad TX.

The FH in this fish is strong. See the 'flowers' on its side, and colored eyes along with the body shape.

If it were Texas x JD, I'd expect the body to be longer and a bit wider.

I think Capeace and Sarah were right on. A red tex that never peeled, or an attempt at a Red texas.

looks like a normal Carpintis to me.

Looking at it on my computer at home I can see what you are saying. When I originally saw this at work it wasn't as clear.

Also, here is what I was thinking it looks similar to:

I can see how you would think that...

But look at the mouth of the Tx JD... much wider, thicker... and look at the pearling... its very very uniform, just like a JD, not like a Tx.

Those are actually kind of nice looking. :D

yeah i saw that page before those guys are sweet, but i didnt think it looked like them because in the OPs fish the back of its dorsal and tail and some on the back end of the body as well have a nice red sheen, and thats what stuck out to me as FH/Red Texas attempt

well, its jack demp fins, pearlxtexas, and jack dempsey's body shape which is slender, however, jack dempsey does not have spots on its body(well it does but not a straight flowerline), that is a hybrid made by petco because their red texas never fade and flowerline is always located on the upper body approaching the tail.
