First of all, some of the supposed attributes seem counter productive in a aquarium filter, at least to me.
(Keep in mind, I am a guy that uses a Fluval FX5 filled with plastic pot scubbies as my filter media, and a filter bag full of SeaChem carbon on my 125gallon saltwater predator fish only setup. So im fairly practical in my thinking.)
What do you guys think, all hype or what???

seems too cheap to be a scam...

And I thought I was the only 1 to fill an FX5 w/ only scrubbies, small world eh.
All hype, probly not, but 1L for every 13 gal.'s, wow don't know what you'd have to be fillin up, but that isn't my idea of cost effective. And the counter productive part you mentioned what did you mean, sorry todays my slow day, lol. :)

Some of the media claims to be antibacterial, wth!????
(This is the one, Im talking about: "Silver Ion helps minimize microbial pathogen growth." The others sound just like hocus pocus!)
Sounds like a bad idea, for bio bugs!

Also I do keep the stock foam blocks in the FX5 also, but only scrubbies and some carbon after that. Carbons probably not ness though.

Sounds like a pile of crap, but having never tried it, I can't say. It does look like decent biomedia, but I personally doubt their claims will live up to their hype.

To be completely fair, silver does have some properties that are microbicidal. I remember learning in a chemistry class that it's used as a wound dressing for burn victims as well as other medicinal purposes. To confirm, I did a quick google and surely enough silver does kill some bacterial pathogens.

But then again, I doubt the product really works all that well. You need nano scale silver particles and whatnot. Besides, considering the price, I doubt theres much silver in it anyways. Probably playing on people's knowledge that silver has some small anti-microbial properties so they market it.

There's a guy on another forum I surf who swears by the Azoo biomedia; he, however, has nothing good to say about the silver ion balls.

I have seen them, but hesitant to try myself.
