NO. Not Trimac at all

It's one of them ZZ x Parrot. Very common in the hobby by new breeders

Trimacs can be extremely variable depending on mood, conditions and breeding status.

above is a female trimac in breeding color, which may be similar to stress colors.
below the same female in non-breeding dress

the problem trying to ID from a photo, and not knowing lineage, is that in any spawn of 2 species, a certain percentage will look like the mother, and a certain percentage will look very similar to the father.
These are usually sold as "low grade FHs", but only if the seller is honest, or even aware or knowledgeable.

i thought trimacs had more of a yellow base.

This is my male and female, for comparison.

Thanks for the pics! i really love the look of these guys.

It could be a Trimac... definitely a female as it has a dark blotch on the dorsal... You'll only be certain when its more mature once the coloirs come through more.

I have a feeling it's a Flowerhorn. I've raised a few Trimacs and something seems off with the body shape of the one in question. Might just be an issue with the glass but it looks a little longer in the body than any I've ever kept. I agree with Duanes though, all of mine have varied in color throughout their lives. Either way that fish looks cool to me.

any knowledgeable Trimac lover would know this is not a Trimac. Right away at first glance already.

:swear:

Mouth, colors, shape, caudal tail shape, Eyes, fins, everything not Trimac!!:nilly:
