have you guys seen an all gold oscar?????

i used to have one until he jumped out

ya, I own one that was sold to me as a red oscar but he is defintly staying gold for now.

There just young oscars. thats a typical colouration for them. wild oscars don't have much colour and just have a couple or one oceli of the colour red.

what the big deal if there wild or captive bred? aren't oscars, oscars?

All that ran through my mind was "OSCARS GONE WILD" only $9.99.

from the books i've read and flicked thru it seems that it's extremely hard to tell the difference between wild and domestic, but like always all fish are different

The native juveniles are similar to yours, but it is difficult to say if they are wild!! They are very easy to breed so I don't thik they are wild!

to me they just look like most babie tiger o's that ive seen, but im definatly far from an expert on anything fish related.... my two reds turned out to be bronze color, and when i bought them they were the reddest in the tank. :)

I think they're too young to say anything... But remember O's have a great variability in the wild, just like in captivity. I've seen almost all-black specimens with NO ocellus (no red, just the darker center), greenish specimens with red in the ocellus and the tail border, some just like a red tiger, some even redder... I'll post some pics soon. As soon as I find them. :D

Best regards.

Daniel.
