Is this a vieja?

Are you sure the veija synspilum/melanura is a female, head shape, blue eyes and sharp vent indicate male to me.
Also I agree with the other comments. It's impossible to say what species of veija is in the first picture. To my eyes it looks like one of the three from the zanotus group but it could be any mix of veija.
I personally would not be tempted at these fish for a breeding project. As stated, the fry would be unidentifiable hybrids and there are far to many of those around.
If you want to breed fish from the veija group, I would buy a group of youngsters from a reputable source and grow out a pair of true lineage.

I agree with Stanzzzz7 about not breeding it, since you really don't know what it is (and never will unless you have a DNA test done), the fry would be Vieja whatchamacallits, so to any serious cichlid keeper, basically worthless.
And once you get lymph (if that's what it is) into one of your tanks, its there forever, a fish virus kind in the same category with Herpes, just waiting for a lapse in water quality, or stressful moment to rear its ugly head and spread throughout the tank.
And any fish you send out, or give away, may be carriers.

I was unaware of that. If that the case I’m going to pass on the big male as well. That sucks because he’s really impressive in person.
