is this a white saum?

This was the only one out of the bunch with white on the fins instead of the usual bright orange. I read online about white saums being somewhat rare and unique. Did I get lucky finding him?

That is absolutely a White Saum. This is not an A. Stalsbergi "True Green Terror". As for being considered rare and unique, this is influenced largely by location. At my location, yes, they are very rare and I guess almost unique, but they are not so rare at other locations; other locations can almost be considered plentiful, but considering the USA as a whole, I would say they are probably considered rare overall. I am not sure regarding other countries. I hope this helps! :)

Not sure who quoted who, but not all White Saums are wild caught. Currently, the most rare green terror tends to be the A. Stalsbergi, and even these fish are not always wild caught, although many are F1s. They are not really captive bred yet because they are just barely being reintroduced back into the hobby. Jeff Rapps is a great source if anyone is interested in purchasing A. Stalsbergi; they are very quality fish.

Well I'm glad I found this one then. I'll keep updating as he grows. Are there any differences between the white and orange as adults?

Other than the obvious tail fin color, no, they essentially look just like each other; basically, they have the same body profile and everything. Now the A. Stalsbergi is a totally different story, although they still are very similar. :)

It most likely a mix of the two and she's sibling with the bunch u got her from. Some can have half white and gold on the tail edges too. Some are full bright red. And some are solid white. Those are pretty solid traits.

The lighter orange I assume are mix of the two but not a way to be sure.. But if you see half white and orange it's a mix I assume

Your's can have white now but may get orange in it later.

But to me they are the same kind and I see the mixed of two colors = nice different variant

They are not hybrids.
