Is this a Yabby? (pics)

I use those guys as feeders for my Red devil, but I have about 5 that have survived for about a month now. The biggest one is about 4 inches long and has his own cave and eats pellets that the red devil doesnt get. If he doesnt get any pellets for a few days Ill find the empty carcass of one of the smaller crays at the entrance to his cave:eek:

They cost me 1 AUD each at the pet shop and they are really funny to watch when they try to fight the red devil :nilly:

o man, mine costed me like $10 each...i have a pair, but i don't think they like e/o very much. and the female definitely grows faster, and is more active. i didn't know they can get to be that big! da's a good news i guess, i was all worrying about my little bichir would grow bigger and eat 'em

As the others have said it is a Redclaw Crayfish [Cherax quadricarinatis] and quite possibly a female. As for the fur, it is normal and a part they can not reach for grooming. Quite commonly sold as 'blue lobster', especially in the States as it is apparently law to call all freshwater crayfish 'lobsters'....
 
Cherax papuanus is a neat species too, "Zebra Lobster"...I've found some interesting colored undescribed Cherax sp. mixed in with them.
