Not in a rush or anything haha. I’m just looking up on peoples ansorgiis to estimate their growth rates and compatibilities. If they grow slow I’ll get a larger ansorgii, if they grow fast I’ll get a smaller ansorgii. Some guy tried to sell me a 28” one already ?

Nope lol. It was a month ago when I was looking for congicus/ ansorgii bichirs (when I got my 21” congi), and people were sending me offers of their bichirs. That’s when someone asked if I wanted a 28” ansorgii. I didn’t ask for pics as it was too large and I was scared to know the price of it ?

that Ansorgii went from 2 inches to about 8 in 6-7 months, that’s currently. I have another Ansorgii that’s on a similar growth curve but these are all CB. My PBB is currently the fastest grower I have but I’ve noticed they all slow down a lot by the time they hit 8-10 inches. Ornates and Laps are especially slow length wise, they do fill out girth wise for sure. The only Bichir I’ve had that constantly grew at the large range was my Endli, he never seemed to slow down. So if you want an Ansorgii that’s + 10 inches, it’ll take a year IMO, and I’m sure it drags after that but some of the other longer keepers have more experience in that range.

If they slow down after 10”, I’m debating on this… finlet is missing which is slightly deterring, but the size and price making me question myself

I think it all depends on your stock and plans! Generally I find most of the cool bichirs difficult to come by in the juvenile stage. It’s either captive bred 2 inch babies or large WC. And since they’re so cannibalistic when they’re juvies it makes pairing them a massive pain IMO. I’m much more willing to put a 8-10 inch Bichir with a 18 inch Bichir than a 3-4 inch with a 8-10 inch
