Today, I went to Lowe's to get some kind of tubing to use as a hiding place for my tire track eel and my senegal bichir, since the tt eel has outgrown most of its existing hiding places. I ended up getting this piece of rubber tubing, but I have no idea whether it is okay to put in my aquarium.:screwy::nilly: Do you all think that this is aquarium-safe? If not, is ther any way to make it aquarium-safe (like soaking it in water or something)? Any comments/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. :)

I don't know if it is or not.

then its impossible to know for sure if it is truly safe or not. if i were to guess i would say yes, but then again it is mighty shiny:D

It's fine...... It's ABS pipe, often used for plumbing in ponds and/or aquariums. Just in smaller diameter. I use to use it to provide shelter for larger cichlids, etc. It'll sink too!

hard plastic like for lawn irrigation? should be fine... boil in water for a minute if you want.

yah, but his pipe ain't plastic he said it was rubber. shiny rubber..

If it ends up not being safe try using just the white plumbing tubes, I think that they are plastic? I use those and if you cover them in aquarium glue then roll them in your aquarium sub strait it makes a nice looking cave.
