Is this aquarium-safe?

A clue might be the intended application of this tube. If its used for kitchen type plumbing for water you might be drinking or showering in it is probably fine. If its intended for drainage maybe not. It probably has some manufacturer info on it. I suggest you look them up and contact them. Hope you kept your receipt.

It's fine...... It's ABS pipe, often used for plumbing in ponds and/or aquariums. Just in smaller diameter. I use to use it to provide shelter for larger cichlids, etc. It'll sink too!

he said its made of rubber.. ABS pipes and fittings are made from a thermoplastic resin called Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene.

It says it's for drain, waste, and vent pipes. :(

then its impossible to know for sure if it is truly safe or not. if i were to guess i would say yes, but then again it is mighty shiny:D
It isn't as shiny as it looks in the pic, I took the pic next to my tank (probably shouldn't have :screwy:) so it was just reflecting the tank light.

if its 100% rubber and not coated with anything it should be fine..
My dad just told me that it is, so I guess I'll just take the risk and put it in the tank. Thanks for the help.:)

I would believe that it would be fine just make sure you wash it off good with out soap lol but i'm sure you knew the soap thing

I didn't use flash, I just chose a bad spot to take the pic. As for the tube/pipe thing (whatever it's called), it has been fine so far, so I don't think it will cause any problems. Again, thanks for the help everyone. :D

If it's rubber than you shoud be fine. I usually let it soak in a bucket of warm water and let it sit outside and let nature do some work to it. I say if you're not sure let nature cure it. Natural elements defeats all. Be cautious when adding to your aquarium.
