Is this armatus???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They can be territorial as any other fish, it's just their bites are more fatal

First one ive ever had. I just got him because I knew it was something different in his order of scombs. And I knew it wasn't a tat by the fins. Are they as aggressive as I read? Ive read stories about armatus killing tigerfish..I have 2 goliathes and if this the case the armatus will definitely not be put in that setup
I had mine in a 180 and it got to the point where it would keep all the other fish on the other side of the tank.If one dared cross the armatus boundary line it would rush to attack and chase it back to the other side.I had intended to move it to my 265 but it sprung a leak.

Do you have one? If so what do you house it with? Plan is to grow him out and move him to either 180 or 210 gallon.
Other larger fish...like rays, Lowe jaw polys, pbass, wolf fish, dats, atf other Armatus.

sounds like a hostile environment lol

So how does 2 orino pbass, tigrinus, and armatus sound in a 210? Best combo I can think about with the fish I have right now

No not personally, agree with kno4te on what you can keep it with, other large characins, cats, polys may get eaten, and rays. It will out grow a 180 and a 210. Pbass may be killed, there's a vid of a large armatus eating a large pbass. The bass may provoke the armatus, I never kept bass though to know of them.

It can be done. But the tank size is the main issue. May need to get a bigger tank eventually. If the pbass may fight and will need more bass or bigger tank or both. Tig can get like 30 inches. Armatus seem to need big tanks to prevent them jumping and dying.

The tank will be a good growout though. Just IMO.
