For keeping arowana with oscar as a community tank. I got the information from our friend that we need 8X3X3 feet tank for keeping oscar and the arowana together. I got the doubt that whether they need such space for swimming or they need such 1427litres of water? May I know the reason Why we prefered 8X3X3ft tank?

Bellow is a picture of my 1 and half year old asian arowana

The black tweezers on the left is the 1.5m or 5foot mark

Do you think that small space is enough for her to live?
Now imagine when she is a 55cm adult?
Plus a 30cm Oscar?

Just thought a picture would give you a better idea of space alone

Nice explanation sister. U r correct. Here the experts and shop keepers gave explanation that oscar is in the bottom and arowana is in the top. So there is no problem for keeping the oscars and arowana with them in 5X2X2 ft tank. Thats y i ask???? In final we are in need of 8X3X2ft tank minimum for maintain our arowana?

Oscars are all over the place. It's more about the actual swimming space than volume, 8 x 3 footprint is ideal for long term health

Sometimes if you see something for yourself, its better than a million words

I would also not recommend adding Oscar while arowana is so small

I did it twice in the past, it did not work
2 months ago my son got a chilli red about same size as yours and he has 2 small oscars about 10cm and again we had to move the oscars for now

Oscars are everywhere but very much at the top especially when you feed
Oscarsare very greedy and dont know when to stop eating and they will take the arowana's food even if they have to spit out what is in their mouth just so they can have the new food
They also very fast at catching the food

Personally, i would wait until the arowana is eating well and swims fast for her food before you add the oscar.

If you already have the oscar, watch carefully if your arowana is getting enough food

Good luck with your baby

Is it. Here my oscar are not crazy to take food. They are all very slow in taking food. Here they are all busy with digging sand and sit on the pit. At night they are all sleeping in their pit by lying down like human beings. Sure let me check while i introduce them
