yes thats a juvy cuban. the pics on primitivefishes site are of slightly larger to large specimens, hence the patterns look a bit different (or in this case lack of patterning).

no. from what i hear they are much more sensitive to water params...especially sudden PH changes. these are def not a beginers gar. i may have to look into getting one again. how much is shipping?
They are not quite as hardy as the Florida/spotted gar and require much more pristine water params. They will accept non-live foods such as pellets and shrimp. Not a bad price since they are hard to find.
