no. from what i hear they are much more sensitive to water params...especially sudden PH changes. these are def not a beginers gar. i may have to look into getting one again. how much is shipping?

From what I understand, George is the only one that does any live shipping. He is on some collections trip from what i last heard.

You can email him at info@SharkAquarium.com

Good luck!

I want to add.. some look A LOT better than others in the tank..

Which brings me to mention that If anyone gets these and they do unfortunately pass on to Garvana.. These fish are very much needed for various research projects... Please do not throw them out if they die. Freeze them and contact either I or Solomon (E_americanus) so we can get them to the right people.

can't stress this enough...so i'll quote it to add to the repetition :)

as for they're care, other than the size requirements of the alligator gar, this species is the most challenging outright. shortnoses are psychotic but not as fragile as the Cubans in terms of water chemistry.

if you are not willing to dedicate a good amount of time and effort with this species, or do not have good experience in maintaining consistent water parameters in an aquarium, this fish is not for you. not trying to turn people away, just speaking the truth.

justin, if you can get george (or whomever is in charge in his absence) to ship to you i would go for it. the price is definitely a good one, but keep in mind these fish will likely not last long...due to both potential demand and frequent expiration in LFS from what we know thus far--
