Is this decent lighting?

Is this decent lighting for a 10 gallon? Could I grow some easy plants with it?

I have two of those blubs in my 10 gallon right now.

It dose pretty good for low light plants like Java Fern and mosses.

That bulb is 10 watts.

If your hood holds 2 screw in bulbs just go to any hardware store or even walmart and get some GE daylight 6500k bulbs.

For a 10g low tech I would get 2 15 watt bulbs or 1 26 watt GE 6500k.

I thought you couldn't use household bulbs? Are they cheaper too?

house hold bulbs are fine.. And yes much cheaper and located in any big store.

Just make sure to get GE daylight 6500k spiral compact flourescents.

I have the more powerful 37w one on my ten...have for a year and things are looking good. The only problem is you have to order a new bulb right off the bat bc the company ships them with 14ks and you cant substitute. The good news is that their bulbs are dirt cheap anyways. Good luck, post pictures.
