I had about 20 tanks, and 1500 to 2000 gallons set up in my house, and I went cheap of dehumidifiers.
When I put the house up for sale, the entire space had to be remediated before it could shown.
I read an article in Cichlid News (from sometime back in the late 80s or early 90s) about setting up an auto fan type ventilation/air exchange system in a fish room.
Looking back, this would have been the way to go, and it might have paid for itself in the long run, compared to the mold problem the tanks produced, and in overall energy cost (those dehumidifiers really seem to suck some power) .
Hindsight is always 20/20.
