I have 35 African Cichilds in a 125 gallon tank. I have 2 Penguin 350 HOB filters and I am going to purchase a Rena 723 Filstar XP4 Canister Filter today. Would this be enough filtration for the tank? Thank you!

ive found it all depends on how much you feed when it comes to filtration. should be plenty but there are so many variables, its hard to say. what media u use, how much you feed, waterchange frequency, and countless other things factor. best bet is a good test kit. no ammonia no nitrite no need for more filters. Im sure others will say Im wrong but whatever.

I have a great test kit that tests, PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, & Nitrate. What do you mean by water parameters? I also feed twice a day, morning and night. 10% water change once a week.

Filtration is no exception for wc! 10% a week? Try atleast 50%! They will grow healthier. And yes imo 2 hob and a xp4 is good on a 125. Vac and wc weekly!

Btw fx5 would be better. Online for 250$

thats going to be PLENTY.as long as you do weekly ,large water changes .people on here tend to exagerate filtration needs. filtration is really important but overfiltration really is just luxary and bragging rights.this is all coming from someone who OVERFILTERS

That is a lot of filtration the xp4 with two hob is good fx5 of course is always better but not needed. I think you could get away with 2 30% changes a week but min once week. But you do have lots of fishies so that means lots of poop

The fx5 reviews stated problems with Micro-bubbles galore? I'm not sure what this means, but if I spend 250 dollars on the fx5 I want to make sure I know its going to work. I'm about to order the FX5 now unless anyone has any other ideas. Thank you.
