Quarantine Tank
Just wondering about my new FRT and her feeding schedule. Is what im doing ok terms of water quality?

I was planning on placing a piece of lettuce in the tank for it to graze on in the morning and the leaving it in their all day and taking it out at night. In the evening I would also give the FRT its main course meal of algea wafers, fruit, and/or veggies.

Will leaving lettuce in the tank all day effect my water quality?

What do you think of this feeding routine?

Thanks again everybody! :clap

umm i doubt it will effect the water quality much, but depends how much you put in. if you dont overload it im sure it will be fine. is there a reason to feed it twice a day?

lettuce is for grazing and the main course of fruit, veggies, and algea wafers are for the bulk of their nutrients since lettuce seems to be low in the good stuff....

at least this is what ive been reading? though again this is the reason for my thread to give me some confirmation of this feeding routine.

yup thats right. if you dont put in too much, i think you'll find it will be gone quite soon. try it on a day you have off, and see how long it takes for it to be devoured

IMO I just wouldn't leave the lettuce in for more than a couple hours, it could possibly spoil the water quality, not to sure though. The rest sounds good to me though.

thinking about it, i think it would spoil a bit eventually, esp in tropical temp water. id just give it a small feeding, or grow water luttuce and you can put that in there now and again, and that wont spoil, and the frt can just eat it

yeah you might want to try and stick with water lettuce.

Tried to buy "The Austrialian Pig Nosed Turtle" book but Barns and Nobles couldnt find it...

Guess I will just have to post some threads and get answers from people who can help me

=0P

i feed when ever i walk by the tank LOL
