Is this Heater Burn

well i woke up to my ray looking like this, only had him over a month, and new to keeping rays, but not fish. never had a problem with fish getting burned but now i belive i do,

can some one tell me if this is heater burn or no? , if isnt iam cluess on what it can be.

hmmmmmmmm not 100 % sure but sure looks like it could be ... i like my heaters either in line or in the sump ....hope he heals for ya
 
It looks like it could be, I buy or make heater guards I had a ichir get burned once-Anne
 
heater guard from pvc pipe works well.
 
i will have more pics tmdw, its starting to peel and looks liek its gonna all come off slowly

also how long can a motoro go with out food?
 
now for real how long can it go with out food, i have fish swiming around that he can snack on, i use to feed him daily and now its day 2 with out food. when should i go from the stage from being worried to ****ting my pants?
 
I would add some melafix to encourage healing, and get some PVC pipe the lenght of your heater to stop this from happeing again. most fish can got quite a while without feeding, about 2 weeks, but if he doesn't start eating again in about 3-4 days something is probably wrong.

have you kept rays? A ray without food for 2 weeks can be considered a dead ray.
