Guys, this is awful. This is what I came home to tonight. This is only day 3.

jeez,....uhm, I wouldn't even wait for a diagnosis....I would just go to the LFS and buy something that was general broad spectrum or at least start adding salt or something...... you just freaked me out.

I know, pretty gross huh? I've been dosing erythromycin. It's what I had on hand. Put an order in for metro but it's gonna be a few days for that.

I would dose with metro and nitrofurance. Try to add meds to food

well, you could say it's a bit of an "eye-sore", but it's relly much more of a "head-sore". How did this happen when you keep a BARE-BOTTOM tank? I thought that was supposedly the cleanest way to keep fish? Makes no sense

No this tank is just my isolation tank. He's kept in a 135 with sand substrate and plants. I'm very diligent about weekly water changes (at least 50%) so I don't know .

sorry for your loss. It really looked like a ruptured abscess. Also your initial description with the discharge fits too. Unfortunately when fish get infections they run the risk of running systemic very quickly.
