I am not 100% sure if these teeny tiny white dots are ich??? Anyone know if this is ich?? I tried to get good pics, but we all know fish don’t always cooperate.

Could be. How long has it been there? Spot usually increase day by day as soon as it shows up.

Um I noticed small tiny dots yesterday. Not really sure how long it’s been there. I’ve only had the fish maybe two weeks. They are pretty reclusive during the day.

The pores on its head are normal.

Glad to hear that! I went ahead and began raising temperature from 80 to 82, will eventually raise it to 86. I am trying to stay away from salt (i have three rabbit snails and shrimp). I do have some ich meds from api, but again I have snails. I may end up moving snails if I have to treat. But does anyone know if African butterfly fish can handle the meds? Or if there is anything else besides salt and meds that can work?

If you plan on using meds, the aquarium temperature doesn't have to be more than 78F. The ich life cycle doesn't go any faster between 78F-85F. At 86F, the reproduction cycle of ich gets disrupted, but it doesn't stop 100% completely, so you may see some spots from time to time. At 90F, ich is killed.

Will turning up the heat get rid of the ich? How long should the heat stay up, like 5 days or 10 days? I’m not sure if I should raise the temp all the way to 90f…

Heat alone doesn’t do it, it would still need to be combined with salt and ich. The 10 day salt and heat method worked for me.

I found a product called kordon ick attack, it’s supposed to be plant and shrimp safe… my tank is planted, so wanted to stay away from salt (also snails and shrimp).
