is this light ok for my fh?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
this prob would get more answers in the hybrid section. also, if its an actinic light, fish cant see in that spectrum, its only for our viewing pleasure, so you should add another light or else its like the fish is in the dark constantly

I had an actinic light on my flowerhorn/other cichlid tank for a little while, the plants didn't grow so well on the bottom so they migrated to the top, the tank ended up feeling like a swamp and my FH turned almost completely black. I have since moved him to a tank with normal flourescent tubes and half red/half turquoise gravel and found out that he's (she?)'s a tan king!. ALot of variation there.

I ended up moving the actinic light to use in the evenings on my knifefish/blue gourami tank. Its a much better fit, and blue gouramis look STUNNING under actinic.

yaa very nice flowerhorn

Is that true, a fish cannot see in actinic light? Or only partially? I was under the impression that the night lights people used on their tanks were simply low spectrum LED's and actinic lights were for coral/saltwater.
