i'd kill(theoretically) to get my hands on a tsn for my tank. problem is, i can, but... my tank is only 75 gallons and an upgrade to get a tank big enough is impossible(parents). i wanted to ask however if it is ok to buy a tsn (their $5 at my lfs) and just give it away at the 15" mark. i'd never want anyone to buy it off me so it just give it away. even if it meant that i had to pay for s+h for someone else to responsibly home it. is this acceptable or irresponsible?

do it as long as you are not planning keeping it long term ask anyone who knows me im a non profit flipper i have em for a few weeks and sell them for what i paid.

It's not responsible. I'm sorry. The basic premise of my opinion is that **** happens. You never know what you are going to encounter in the future, and that means that you might not have the ability to rehome the fish until far after it should have been rehomed.

yes i agree. you never know what the future holds. thats why I'm asking. and why id like to give one away because i have college in 3-4 years

I would never get a fish I couldnt keep for all its life. Ive passed up so many RTC / PACU and TSN in my time but I cant house them fully grown so I stay away

i think it works both ways tho he might get a way bigger tank or pond and be able to keep it.i say you get it

ok i think i might. still debating though. if something bad happens i have a friend(whose 40 and been in the hobby since my age[15]) and he said he could watch any fish if i needed him too. he's kept tsn before any many other things so he knows what he's doing. also if something is coming up in the future i could always get rid of it right away. and as an extra plus, i could get my mom(whose a sucker for cute fish and will stop and nothing to make sure my parrot fish is happy) to get hooked on it and want to upgrade to a pond. which is possibly finically and space wise. so it might work out or ill still give it away at the 12"-15" range.

Tsn when grown are not cute; or at least mom type of cute; ESP if he end up eating your parrot;)

Also keeping a parrot happy financially is VERY different from keeping a TSN happy via a pond.

id say no, unless the LFS where you saw it at is somewhat irresponsible and might sell it to a person who has no idea what they are getting into.
