I have been watching my Yo-Yo's and one is getting "fat" while the other is staying "skinny. They both seem to eat the same and are very active. The only difference I have noticed wetween the two is when I am close to the tank the big one hides more. They are in a 125 usgal tank with 27 mixed African Cichlids and 5 Rhino pleco's (Pterygoplichthys scrophus).

Looks like a gravid female.
My zebra danio looks like that too

Yes, it is gravid but there really is no record of yoyos breeding in captivity.

good luck breeding them

two members with gravid females....
Good Luck!

I thought she might be gravid at first, but I dismissed it due to everything I read before posting was "no known breeding." I would be tickled pink if they actually successfuly spawned. I don't know where we we put the fry. We currently have 21 tanks tied up with fry or recovering mothers. I have 6 more 10 gallon tanks but I don't know where to put them tell I get some racks built.:wall:

Woodworm, you'll find it very tricky to manage the eggs' survival. Yoyos inhabit fast flowing waters. I'm not mistaken as with most other loaches, the eggs go with the powerful flows to avoid cannibalism from their parents. This is hard to achieve and we still have theories not proven yet particularly the theory about males being too young to fertilize the eggs or females being inexperienced to breed. Speaking of which, I'll see if the University of Florida can try breeding yoyos.
