My coastal carpet just sits like this on his floor. He spends 50% of his time like that and the other 50% he spends in his hides or on his perches/branches. I thought snakes don't like being in the open? Other than that he's eating and acting fine.

i love carpets never actually owned one thought but dont worry i would say its perfectly normal my snakes normally spend most of the time sitting either in their hid or sometimes in the open
 
they all have their own personalities. My IJ carpet will either stay curled up on the floor under some leaves of right out in the open wrapped up on a branch, depends on what he wants I suppose.
My male king snakes sits right out in the open all day long watching the world and my female stays hidden all the time.... it's really personal preference for them
 
mine is either sleeping or moving around his cage, he's never still when he's awake, he also never even tries to use the hide i gave him
