Is this normal ?

Our female Jag has been like this for a few days now, She has a belly full of eggs but she hasn't laid them (am I wrong on the belly full of eggs ?) Scarface shows no signs of breeding with her. Is their something I can do or will this go away ? This thing is huge the pics don't do it justice. It has never gotten that big before.

It is not normal but I don't know what it is. Last night I noticed that my breeding female has the same condition.

That does not look good the genitals are very swollen and discolored i have never seen that condition befor.I would pay close attention to her and be on stand by with qt tank and meds.

After keeping an eye on here all day I noticed she seemed lathargic and wasn't moving much so I scooped her up in the net and wrapped the net around her to keep her from splashing about and I genlty applied pressure on it and a blood clot thingy cam out so I satred with very light pressure with my thumb and index finger started to milk her and a boat load of eggs came out. Once I let her out of the net she seems to be doing better ,she is swimming aroound now almost as perky as she used to. I had thought about doing it to her belly but I'm afraid I'm going to hurt her. Is it possible she was holding out on laying them until Scarface decided to breed with her ?

She was egg bound..not witing for the male, because they don't do that..You acted well, because she was going to die and you made the correct decision..this time you saved your fish, next time it can be that the opposite occurs..but you acted..and it is always better to act, even wrongly, than to do nothing..

I agree with the others u done good it sounds like u saved her life and now we all got a idea of how to handle that problem.?is egg bound a real term for this problem is it a disease?
