Is this ok??

If I keep a 3-spotted gourami (which needs 29g) in a 10 gallon tank, but with 40 gallon filtration is it ok for it to be in there??

how big are they right now? Are you going to be upgrading in the future? The problem that you are going to run into is stunt growth and fin nipping. Thats the start. I would recommend a bigger tank in a month or two.

i only have one of them and i have a plant in there too

sry read it quick. I still would say a bigger tank for more swimming room but it might be ok for now. but they can get up to 6 and a 10 gal tank is only 12. but no one can stop you.

keep an eye on them.

I don't think they will last very long in a 10g without nipping the hell out of each other.

upgrade soon if you want to keep them in good condition.

its only one but the species is called a "3 spot gourami"

okay, if you only have one than nipping won't be a problem.

its just growth rate. the fish will get to around 4" or so, so you will need to upgrade in the near future. if it is small now you are okay for a while.
