9" Aro and a 6" Oscar
Sorry, those would probobly become gar bait, gar specie range from 2+'-10' long and eat fish up to 1/4 tier length. Other than that they are pretty mellow with a quick rush for feeding. they like sunnies but you limeys could try tench, rudd, bream, or carp.

spotted gars, which are by far the most commonly available specie, could be kept with oscars and arows no problem. your current size specimens would do great.

Nice fish :)

How big do spotteds get?

Spotteds typically only get to a bit over 2' in captivity. There seven species in two genus, Atractosteus and Lepisosteus. Atractos have wider heads and two rows of teeth, Lepis have more elongate snouts and one row of teeth. All of the Lepis are pretty common, two of the three Atractos are VERY rare (A. tropicus and A. tristoechus), while the 'gator gar (A. spatula) is sort of semi-rare. A. tropicus was just imported into the US for the first time about a month ago, and they went FAST. I'm lucky enough to have one in my tank right now with two more on hold for me. Shortnose (L. platostomus) and longnose (L. osseus) are typically relatively shy, but I had my shortnose try to eat fish half his size, LOL. My favortie thus far are probably Floridas (L. platyrhincus), but spotteds (L. oculatus) are very similar. For a starter gar, I would reccomend a spotted or Florida, shortnoses stay a bit smaller but scare more easily and can cause substantial injuries to themselves if they slam into the glass. If you live near Wharf Aquatics, I know that they often have spotteds in stock and if they don't have them can special order them. :)
