Is this overstocking?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
More than I would put in, but probably not too bad with frequent water changes. In about 2 weeks after those guppies get friendly then it will be overstocked

The stock will be fine.

I resepctfully disagree. This is a way overstocked plan. Loose the cherry barbs, they won't have room with the guppies the corries and the neons.

No level of filtration will allow you to keep that many fish in such a small environment. You are not meeting the needs of the fish to have some personal space. A 10 gallon tank is small, there isn't much room. None of the fish will have a chance to get away from each other. The guppies will clump together the barbs, cories and the neons would school... a tank that small with 4 schools of fish?!?!?! No WAY!

Corys are a schooling fish. You need 6 of them not 2, and they MUST be a dwarf variety.

I would up your tetras to 8 or 9, with 6 dwarf cories and the mermaid. I am not sure about the guppies, but do be sure to get all males if you get them. Putting females in a breeder net is a great way to stress them out into aborting their fry and cause both the death of the fry and the female.

Also neons are really sensitive to newly cycled tanks. I would put the corries and guppies in, then wait 6- 8 weeks before adding the neons.

What are you currently using to provide ammonia for the newly cycled tank?

Went to petco earlier and picked up 6 neons 2.5 guppies and a dwarf cory :headbang2 when my grandmaw saw how much i was buying she was like :WHOA:

ps. got 3 nets just incase :naughty:

2.5 guppies?!?!?!

Breeder nets= dead fish. BAD JUJU.

Corries are a schooling species, a single one will probably stress out and die.
